Author Philip Pullman has hit Matt Hancock with a sly jibe on Twitter.

The Oxford-based writer, famous for the His Dark Materials series, responded to a tweet the ex-secretary of state for health and social care posted on Wednesday afternoon.

Mr Hancock was “delighted” to let his followers know he was invited to the US this week to talk about “why the UK should be the home of financial innovation”.

“We must understand and harness the potential of new technologies like crypto, not fear and avoid their disruptive force,” he wrote.

Mr Pullman snapped back: “Please stay there.”
