OXFORD Health Charity is urging people to help the NHS by joining a big tea party to celebrate its 74th anniversary.

The NHS Big Tea Party, led by NHS Charities Together, will take place on Tuesday, July 5 and is to celebrate the 74 years of the NHS while raising funds to provide the extra support needed for staff, patients, and volunteers.

Last year more than 4,800 hosts signed up, collectively raising over £500,000. In addition to individuals, schools, community groups and organisations, more than 150 NHS charities were involved, including Oxford Health Charity.

Julie Pink, head of charity and involvement at Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust, said: “The NHS Big Tea is a great way to come together and celebrate the support the NHS has given you, your family and your local community.

“Funds raised from events across the area will go towards enhancing NHS services either locally or nationally, through NHS Charities Together.

“It really raises spirits among staff and patient groups to see the support the community has for the NHS.”

This year, NHS Charities Together have a collective fundraising target of over £775,000.

This will include donations from corporate sponsors including the headline sponsor Morrisons, who supported the campaign by raising £250,000 last year and will be urging their customers and staff to take part once again.
