A new LGBTQ+ nightclub is set to open in Oxford next week.

Located at the old Be At One site in St Clements, Glamourous Oxford will open its doors to revellers on Friday (May 20).

The owner is opening the nightclub in the city following the success of Glamourous venues in both Birmingham and Coventry.

As well as a nightclub, Glamourous Oxford will also an LGBTQ+ safe space, bar, lounge and entertainment venue where DJs and drag artists will perform.

Owner Matt Eason told the Oxford Mail there has been “quite a lot of interest” from the LGBTQ+ community in Oxford.

He said: “It is great to add a third venue to Oxford’s LGBTQ+ community.

“It is about being part of the community, not coming into Oxford being like the ‘big I am’ because we have a venue in Birmingham.

“We are here to compliment what is already in the city.

“The more that is going on, the better for the community is how we see it.”

Mr Eason added that Glamourous Oxford’s selling point is that it sits neatly in-between the nightclub environment of Plush and pub surroundings of the Jolly Farmers – Oxford’s other LGBTQ+ venues.

When the venue opens, it is set to see performances from Jelly Cube, a drag queen who is originally from Abingdon.

“It is like a homecoming for her,” Mr Eason said.

Glamourous Oxford will be open Monday to Sunday, 12pm to 3am.
