An arrest warrant was issued for a man accused of failing to turn up to probation appointments.
Stefan Marcel, then 20, was handed a 12 month suspended sentence last December for assaulting and controlling his then partner. The judge who sentenced him, Judge Nigel Daly, compared his behaviour to that of an ‘immature little boy’.
The Bicester man was due before Oxford Crown Court on Monday to answer allegations that he had failed to attend probation appointments in March.

When he failed to show up, Judge Michael Gledhill QC issued an arrest for Marcel’s arrest. The warrant was ‘not backed for bail’, meaning that if he is arrested the police must hold him in the cells until he can be put before the court.
The duty probation officer explained that Marcel, of Isis Avenue, Bicester, had completed all 120 hours of unpaid work imposed by Judge Daly last year but was yet to start a domestic abuse rehabilitation programme. Probation had not heard from him for more than a month.

Last year, the crown court was told that Marcel once ruined his partner’s job interview at Tesco by turning up part-way through and making a scene. He later stopped her from getting a job at Bicester shopping village, threatening to be unfaithful if she took up the position.
Judge Daly said: “You bullied and assaulted and controlled this young girl, who you claimed to love.”
