A West End musical’s opening night has been cancelled due to Covid-19.
Waitress was meant to take to the stage at the New Theatre Oxford tonight for the first of seven shows.
The hit West End musical is based on a 2007 film of the same name and stars Chelsea Halfpenny and Matt Willis.

The plot follows Jenna, a waitress and expert pie-maker, who dreams of some happiness in her life.

A spokesperson for the theatre said: “The producers of Waitress are sorry to announce that, due to the number of covid cases in the performing company, it has become necessary to cancel tonight’s performance.
“We fully expect all performances for the remainder of the week to take place.”
Waitress is at the New Theatre Oxford until April 30.
