A councillor tweeted the 'lavish' plant-based lunch eaten at Oxfordshire County Council today.
Green Councillor for Kidlington South Ian Middleton tweeted a thank you to Oxfordshire County Council for the lunch provided at their meeting today and said it was 'an absolute triumph'.
The images he shared showed plant-based sandwiches and savoury pastries, small platters of fruit, including melon, mango grapes, kiwi and pomegranate, and what looked like a mini chocolate cake.

Cllr Middleton told this paper: "Before anyone says it was 'too lavish', it actually looks like a lot more in the pictures. I was slightly concerned as it was quite last minute. But it was locally sourced."
Under the councillor's tweet, many commented with mixed opinions on the county council's spread
Cllr Middleton's tweet itself said: "First #plantbased lunch at @OxfordshireCC very enthusiastically received. Some saying it's the best food that has ever been provided by the council. Thanks to officers for organising it. An absolute triumph!"
The comments ranged from tweeters pointing out the lack of gluten-free options, and questions about how public money is being spent, to celebrations of the move to 'plant-based food'.
Associate editor of Sentient Media Claire Hamlett commented: "Omg you do actually get a lavish banquet!"
Cllr Middleton replied: "It looks more lavish in the pictures. It was actually fairly modest but very nice all the same."
Town Councillor Kate Gregory from the Thame & Chinnor division agreed that "It was great".
