*APRIL FOOLS*
"RUDE, offensive" road names in Oxfordshire could be renamed under joint plans by the city and district councils to clean up the county's streets.
In dramatic new efforts to help prevent offence to sensitive residents and visitors, the authorities are proposing a ban on all road names, according to a document released today, that could be misconstrued as 'problematic' or which may 'trigger' a nervous reaction.
Under the new rules, a number of familiar names will disappear to be replaced by 'cleaner' versions.
Crotch Crescent in Marston, Oxford, will be renamed 'Crotchet Crescent' and the Goldenballs roundabout at Burcot will become 'Goldenbowls'.
Cockshoot Close in Witney will become 'Clockshoot Close', while Backside Lane in Banbury will be renamed 'Bankside Lane'.
