An Oxford MP and a legendary guitarist joined forces to call for a ban on trophy hunting imports.
Layla Moran, Lib Dem MP for Oxford West and Abingdon, and Queen guitarist Dr. Brian May came together at an event in Parliament last week.
Every year British trophy hunters legally import trophies from some of the world’s most endangered animals including lions, leopards, African elephants.

The trophies imported include parts of animals such as skins, claws, teeth, feet, tails and even ears.
Ms Moran has been a long-standing advocate of a ban on trophy hunting imports and supported an Early Day Motion in Parliament which called for this ban to be brought in.
Speaking after the event, Ms Moran said: “The illegal wildlife trade has major negative impacts on biodiversity, existing ecosystems, the natural heritage of the countries of origin, natural resources and the conservation of species. That’s why I was delighted to meet with Dr Brian May, and join him in calling for a ban on trophy hunting.
“It’s right that parliamentarians, and people across the country, raise their concerns with the Government, and put them under pressure to institute this ban as soon as possible.
“Scores of constituents have got in contact with me, asking me to push for this ban, so I was glad to have the opportunity to publicly reaffirm my strong stance on this issue”
