A SCHEME which sees people look out for vulnerable neighbours at risk of fraudulent cold callers is to be relaunched.
Thames Valley Police has teamed up with Cherwell District Council and OurWatch to relaunch the Nominated Neighbour Scheme.
People can volunteer to be their neighbour’s nominated contact, in the event of them being visited by an unexpected caller.
The neighbour doesn’t have to speak to the caller on the doorstep themselves but instead holds up a card at the window, directing them to the address of the nominated neighbour.
The nominated neighbour can then verify the caller’s credentials.

Genuine callers will not mind following the instructions on the card.
Suspected rogue traders should be reported to Oxfordshire County Council’s trading standards team on 01865 895999 or online, as well as to the police.
A card can be requested by emailing your nearest neighbourhood policing team, include your name and the delivery address.
