Chipping Norton Theatre has been nominated for Best Pantomime Under 500 Seats in the UK Pantomime Awards 2022.

The theatre's Christmas show was Rapunzel with knights and maidens, sword fights and sea-storms, sweeties and singalongs.

Director John Terry said: "Having had to cancel the Chippy Panto the previous Christmas for the first time since 1974, we are delighted to have our much-loved panto recognised in these national awards.

"With original script, music, costume, and the set designed and made from scratch each year, we aim to bring top notch creative production values to bear on the warm familiarity of traditional family panto.”

JJ Henry performed as the nanny Dame Brunhilde Blunderberg, Alex Cardall as hero Rudi and Rhian Lynch was Rapunzel.

The Theatre is up against four other venues: South Hill Park, Bracknell; The Courtyard, Hereford; Lawrence Batley Theatre, Huddersfield; and Everyman Theatre, Liverpool.
