Popeyes opened its first UK shop in London in November, with an application submitted to Oxford City Council for a store in Queen Street.

A cover letter written on behalf of Popeyes UK states: “The proposal is to undertake building operations associated with the conversion of the existing shopfront shop into a new Popeyes store.

“As part of the fit out for Popeyes, minor changes to the shopfront are proposed to align with their standard branding and specifications.

“The shopfront amendments are minor in nature and are considered to enhance the building, bringing a clean and contemporary design to an already modern street scene.

“The proposed alterations to the shopfront will not harm the building’s original features, including the existing structural columns and architectural detailing.”

According to the Popeyes website, the next nearest store to Oxford is in Battersea.

The website states that Popeyes’ ‘UK-sourced, Red Tractor accredited chicken is freshly prepared daily’ in its restaurants and is ‘never frozen’.

The restaurant has vegan options, including a ‘100 per cent plant-based vegan sandwich’.

Other items on the menu include Popeyes’ ‘signature Louisiana chicken’, hot wings, and a variety of milkshakes and sundaes.

The planning application can be viewed on the city council website, using the reference number 22/00374/FUL.
