A 16-year-old girl was repeatedly sexually assaulted by a man old enough to be her father.

Mehmet Izer’s assaults on his teenage victim were slammed as ‘appalling’ by the police officer who brought the 48-year-old to justice.

He molested the girl on a number of dates between October 2019 and January 2020.

Izer, of Millbrook Square, Grove, pleaded guilty at Oxford Crown Court to two counts of sexual assault.

PC Rachael Snelling, based at Abingdon police station, said: “I’d like to commend the victim who has showed immense courage throughout this investigation. This was an appalling attack on the female victim who at the time was just 16 years old.

“Thames Valley Police take all reports of rape and sexual assault extremely seriously and we are committed to preventing and detecting these offences.”

Izer must abide by a five year sexual harm prevention order.
