A convicted sex offender failed to tell police about a new address – for almost two years.

James Carvell, 56, admitted breaching the requirements of the sex offender register by failing to notify the police about the additional address between April 1, 2020 and January 22, 2022.

He had already pleaded guilty at the magistrates’ court to possession of child sex abuse images, including 11 in the most serious category.

Appearing before Oxford Crown Court on Friday, Carvell, of no fixed address, admitted breaching the requirements of the sex offender notification order.

Judge Michael Gledhill QC ordered a pre-sentence report and remanded Carvell in custody to return to court on March 25.
