A woman has been left seriously injured after she was struck by falling debris caused by Storm Eunice.

The woman has been taken to hospital with her injuries.

She was struck by falling roof tiles on Station Road in Henley-on-Thames.

Due to the danger of further falling tiles, the pavement has been closed between Queen Street and Reading Road.

Thames Valley Police have said that while the road itself remains partially open, they would ask members of the public to avoid travelling unless absolutely essential.

A Thames Valley Police spokesperson said the police were called to the incident at 11.04am and four units attended.

A spokesperson for South central Ambulance Service said: "We received a number of 999 calls around 10:45 this morning all reporting that an adult female had been struck by falling roof tiles/roof materials and sustained serious head injuries on Station Road, Henley-on-Thames.

"We sent an ambulance and the Thames Valley Air Ambulance emergency response vehicle to the incident. Following initial treatment at the scene, the patient has been taken to the major trauma centre at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford in a serious condition."
