This year’s Michelin Guide for Great Britain and Ireland has been released - and some Oxfordshire restaurants made the list.

The list provides all the restaurants that have received and retained a Michelin star this year.

The Michelin Guide is produced by the French tyre company Michelin, which has been going since 1904 and can award up to three Michelin stars for excellence to a select few establishments.

In this year's list, there are 19 new one stars, 5 new two stars and 1 new three-starred restaurant across the country.

Here are all the restaurants which have at least one Michelin star in Oxfordshire in the 2022 run.

Oxfordshire Michelin star restaurants in 2022

Two-Michelin starred restaurants in Oxfordshire

Le Manoir aux Quat' Saisons, a Belmond Hotel

Where: Church Road, Great Milton, OX44 7PD, United Kingdom

Cuisine: French

Chef: Raymond Blanc

The guide says: "You cannot help but fall in love with this iconic country house restaurant. The setting is divine and a feeling of luxury envelops you, from the sumptuous lounge, via the magical interconnecting beamed dining rooms, to the conservatory overlooking manicured gardens.

"Since 1984 it has helped elevate the standard of British cooking – and many who have gone on to become great chefs have trained here. As its name suggests, the seasons lead the way: wander the grounds and you’ll discover an amazing array of plants, as well as a 2,500 strong orchard boasting many rare varieties. Legendary chef Raymond Blanc leads the team and, while the skilfully executed cooking has a classic French base, it also comes with a light, modern touch. Flavours are intense, combinations are sophisticated and the presentation shows an eye for detail. Desserts are a highlight."

Le Manoir aux Quat' Saisons also has a green star for sustainability and gastronomy, in addition to its two stars for excellent cooking.

One-Michelin starred restaurants in Oxfordshire

Nut Tree Inn

Where: Main Street, Kidlington, OX5 2RE, United Kingdom

Cuisine: Modern British

Chef: Imogen Young and Mike North

The Michelin guide writes: "With its 15C origins and smartly thatched roof it looks like a typical English pub – and inside there’s a cosy beamed bar filled with locals kicking back after a day’s work – but this is no ordinary village local. Mike and Imogen bought the pub back in 2006 and have since put Murcott on the foodie map; they even grow their own vegetables out the back.
"It’s a friendly, welcoming place: the rear extension has more of a restaurant feel, while the lively front bar is the place to be if you like a bit of atmosphere. You’ll always find a couple of refined pub classics on the menu but it comprises mainly of elegant, sophisticated dishes – maybe roast Orkney scallop with artichoke and cuttlefish ragout, followed by breast of Cotswold chicken with truffle farce, and then rum-soaked savarin to finish. For the full experience go for the tasting menu."
