A CHARITY that helps supply surplus food to those in need boomed during the pandemic.

Oxford Food Hub, based in Botley, takes food from supermarkets, pubs, and restaurants, that would have otherwise gone to landfill and donates it to over 150 charities across the county.

The charities then distribute the food to individuals and families in food poverty.

Over the pandemic, the need for Oxford Food Hub grew as more people fell into financial difficulties.

This meant the organisation grew at a rapid rate and received many donations from people in Oxfordshire who supported its work.

Oxford Food Hub is now starting its outreach programme in local schools, educating young people on how to reduce food waste.
