A GRAFFITIED portrait of Prince Andrew has been destroyed with red paint.

On Wednesday, a picture painted on Between Towns Road, Cowley, showed the Prince wearing a ‘Jim Fixed It For Me’ badge - alluding to the serial sex offender Jimmy Savile’s long-running television show ‘Jim’ll Fix It’.

The mocking portrayal, however, has now been painted over, making the Prince much less recognisable and the 'Jim Fixed It For Me' badge is no longer visible.

It is unclear who has painted over the portrait or who did the original graffiti.

There is not link between Savile and the Prince, however, the graffitti comes as the Prince is facing a civil court case in New York over sexual assault allegations - the Prince has consistently denied the allegations.

Virginia Giuffre said she was the victim of sex trafficking and abuse by Jeffrey Epstein from the age of 16.

This abuse involved lending underaged girls to other powerful men - Ms Giuffre has said this included Prince Andrew.

She said the Prince sexually assaulted her three times when she was 18 years old.

The reference to Jimmy Savile also comes as Prime Minister Boris Johnson stated in the House of Commons on Monday that Labour Leader Keir Starmer failed to prosecute Savile when he was director of public prosecutions (DPP) between 2008 and 2013 - this statement has been widely criticised for being false.

Oxford City Councillor, Shaista Aziz, said after spotting the portait that it showed the 'anger' of people in Oxford.

She said: "“I was on my way to a meeting this morning when I spotted the art work. I crossed the road to take a photo of it and was struck by how powerful the message and symbolism of it is.

"I think it reflects just how angry and engaged people are about the state of democracy in our country.

"It speaks to power, the establishment and it speaks about how both reinforce each other’s power to the detriment of the people.”
