Residents of a care home enjoyed a Highland fling on Burns Night.

Southerndown care home in Chipping Norton were served a traditional lunch of haggis, neeps and tatties while serenaded with bagpipes played by Richard and James from Kingham Hill School.

The time-honoured address was given to the ‘Great chieftain O’ the pudding race’ – the haggis - and there were readings from the poems of the Scots bard Robert Burns.

The wee celebration was the idea of general manager Rosalynn Forson who wanted to give any Scots natives a chance to reminiscence.

She said: “Our residents have enjoyed a hearty meal of cullen skink soup, haggis with neeps and tatties and Cranachan dessert all prepared by our stellar chef, Peter Lopian."

Residents said it had been a most enjoyable lunch and said how amazing it was to have live pipers at the home.
