A MAN has reported that he was a victim of a ‘distraction crime’ in Oxford.

Oxford Neighbourhood Watch has alerted locals after a man said he was targeted by criminals.

The weekly newsletter documents the man’s experience of the crime that took place in Summertown Car Park.

The letter explained: “He went to pay at one of the machines and ‘a nice young man’ told him that it was not working, but the other one was.

“He used that, the man then spoke to him, and when he looked back his debit card was missing.

“He assumed that the machine had swallowed it but within no time at all, £500 had been taken from his bank account at the Lloyds ATM.”

The ‘nice young man’ was said to have stolen the card and used the pin code they had watched the victim enter.

While Lloyds did refund the £500, people are being warned to stay vigilant.
