A driver who discovered a wig had been stuffed in her husband's car exhaust said she was ‘baffled’ as to why and has asked the person who did it to get in touch.

The motorist took to posting on the Witney Spotted Facebook page after making the surprise discovery.

The post read: "If you are the person that put the very long wig hair into my husband’s car exhaust please can you get in touch! We have been very amused by it but are baffled as to where, when and why it has happened! (The photo shows only a small amount of the ‘hair’ - he has been pulling large amounts out for days!!)

The hair was, of course, material used to muffle the sound of the exhaust.

After the post was shared it received nearly 60 comments.

And many had quite comical responses for her, while others explained she may have been mistaken thinking it was a wig.

Simon Hall joked: "Did you just run over Tina Turner?"

Michelle Walton posted: "This happened to me once, years ago I thought I'd run over a Yorkshire Terrier at first. You need a trip to a garage."

Alan Brooksbank suggested: "They put their head to the air filter and were sucked in."

Jordan Olive: "Sutch a grey area."

And Lew Rankin posted: "Maybe a disgruntled lover?"

Some people did provide a possible explanation, saying it was likely that it was not a wig but a problem with the exhaust's packing material to dampen noise.

Matthew Green said: "That’s probably part of the stuff they put in the exhaust box to muffle the sound."

Nick Wilsdon replied: "Happened on my Vectra, looked like I ran over a sheep!"

Sean Smith agreed: "It’s the exhaust sound deading, the back box is giving up, will need a new one soon!"

And Aoife Burnett explained: "It’s muffler hair, a material used to quieten it. If it starts to come out then the muffler is starting to deteriorate essentially."
