AN OXFORD MP has called on the Prime Minister to resign, following a series of revelations about parties being held at Downing Street.

The parties took place at a time when the country was in lockdown.
Boris Johnson has apologised for the parties, stating that he was unaware of many of them.

However, photographs from May 20, 2020, show Mr Johnson in the Downing Street garden with a number of colleagues.

Mr Johnson insists he thought it was a 'work event', but a leaked email from the PM's Principal Private Secretary, Martin Reynolds showed an invite to the drinks party with revellers being told to 'bring their own booze'.

Labour MP for Oxford East, Anneliese Dodds, has called on the PM to resign.

She said: “Boris Johnson’s excuses get more desperate by the day.

"First he claimed there were no parties, then that he was unaware of them, then that he didn’t realise he was at a party, and now he’s saying no one warned him he was going to a party. He’s taking people for fools.

“The Prime Minister has lost the moral authority to govern. He knows it. His party knows it and the British public knows it. That’s why he should do the decent thing and resign now.”

The statement comes as members of Johnson's own Tory party are calling for his resignation.
