POSITIVE cases of coronavirus in Oxfordshire have risen by 1,150 in the latest figures.

Five deaths were recorded in the county, in the latest statistics, released by the Government.

The new cases were recorded as follows:

Oxford (281)

• Cherwell (236)

• South Oxfordshire (206)

Vale of White Horse (233)

• West Oxfordshire (194)

These latest figures mean there has now been a total of 143,971 recorded cases of Covid-19 in the county.

Across the UK, 94,432 new people had a positive test result reported today.

Between January 12 and today, 673,987 people had a confirmed positive test result.

This shows an increase of 38.9 per cent compared to the previous seven days.

There were 438 deaths in the UK within 28 days of a positive test for coronavirus reported in the latest figures.

Between January 12 and today, there was 1,904 deaths within 28 days of a positive coronavirus test.

This shows an increase of 14.7 per cent compared to the previous seven days.

The latest vaccination figures reveal that more than 52 million people have been given a first dose, while almost 48 million people have been given a second dose. More than 36 and a half million people have been given a booster or third dose.
