A woman accused of encouraging terrorism online has been re-bailed by detectives.

The woman, 20s, was arrested last month when counter-terrorism police swooped on a house in Kestrel Crescent, Blackbird Leys.

At the time, a spokeswoman for regional unit Counter Terrorism Policing South East said her arrest followed comments allegedly made online.

She was released on bail and required to return to the police station today, January 17.

This afternoon, police said she has now been re-bailed until March 17.

The investigation was ongoing, a spokeswoman said.

Last month, around half a dozen plain-clothes officers could be seen leaving the terraced house in Kestrel Crescent carrying a number of brown evidence bags.

Neighbours expressed their shock at the police presence. On being told that the counter terrorism police had made an arrest and were searching the house, one neighbour, a 35-year-old man, said: “It’s surprising. The whole neighbourhood is very quiet. There’s no crime, no sense of insecurity. We feel safe. We bought this house in 2018 and we haven’t seen any kind of violence.”
