PUB extensions, conversions from offices to flats and university repairs are just a few things on the city's planning agenda this week.

•Planning reference: 21/03242/VAR

•Where? 164 Cowley Road, Oxford, OX4 1UE

•In brief: An office is to be converted to student accommodation.

The site, which was previously occupied by a pawnbroker lies opposite the Tesco on Cowley Road.

The business recently transferred to new owners who had no use for the upper level of the premises.

The application seeks to convert the site into seven student rooms, a self-contained kitchen, a living space and laundry facilities.

•Planning reference: 21/03118/FUL

•Where? The Duke Of Monmouth, 260 Abingdon Road, Oxford, OX1 4TA

•In brief: The application seeks to remove the existing smoking shelter and build a brand new pergola.

These new elements form a larger request to extend the Green King pubs beer garden.

If approved, the outdoor seating area would be extended into the existing car park.

This would require landscaping and re-surfacing.

In this area, the pub wants to place three new booths and install festoon lights.

There have been a number of objections, however, made by the pubs neighbours on Sunningwell Road.

Fourteen public comments have been made from residents on the road, which runs behind the pub - with the majority objecting the application.

The reasons for the objections include, noise disturbance, increased on street parking, increase pollution, as well as the effect on the 'character of the area'.

•Planning reference: 21/03626/FUL

•Where? 279A Iffley Road, Oxford, OX4 4AQ

•In brief: This application seeks to turn the existing building into flats.

It asks to demolish the existing two storey side extension, and replace it with a three storey side extension.

This would then be used to create 6 one-bed flats.

Private amenity space and bike storage would also be created.

•Planning reference: 21/03502/FUL

•Where? University College Boathouse, Abingdon Road, Oxford, Oxfordshire, OX1 4PS

•In brief: The application seeks to add low level lighting outside the boathouse, which is a listed building.

This would consist of two mounted lights and 26 bollard lights.

•Planning reference: 21/03543/LBC

•Where? All Souls College, High Street, Oxford, OX1 4AL

•In brief: This application wants to carry out repair works to the Cattle Street Elevation - a Grade I listed building.

The repairs will focus on the Quadrangle including the Chapel and the South East Range,

and the Codrington Library.

This is a retrospective application for Greene King to install 11 new signs.

This led to a comment from one member of the public who said: "Thank goodness Greene King have corrected the spelling of two of Thomas Hardy's books."

The commenter also added that there were grammatical errors in the previous signs, stating: "This is not nit-picking.

"The Turf is an Oxford icon,

and the brewery should employ someone who can write grammatically correct English."

•Planning reference: 21/03361/FUL

•Where? 152 London Road, Headington, Oxford, OX3 9ED

•In brief: This application is being re-advertised on the council's website.

The property developer, Cantay Estates Ltd., is seeking permission to demolish the existing shops at 152 London Road to replace them with a new 1-5 storey building, that would hold retail space and room for a hotel.

The application has already received a number of complaints based on the effect the building will have on the 'character of the area, the effect on the traffic, the effect on the pollution in the area, as well as a 'general dislike' for the proposal.
