An Oxfordshire district is one of the areas in England with the highest booster uptake rates for people aged 18 and over.

The figures were compiled by the PA news agency using NHS England data for vaccinations up to January 9 2022 and population figures from the Office for National Statistics.

South Oxfordshire is the fourth highest area in the country, and highest in the county, with an uptake rate of 84.7 per cent compared to an adult population of 95,018.

It is followed by West Oxfordshire, which has an adult population of 73,374, in seventh place with an uptake rate of 82.7 per cent.

Cherwell takes the bronze position in 42nd place with a booster uptake rate of 79.2 per cent compared to an adult population of 93,269.

With a rate of 79.1 per cent and an adult population of 68,945 Vale of White Horse comes in at the 48th position.

Finally, the lowest on the list and in 207th Oxford has a booster uptake rate of just 66.8 per cent compared to an adult population of 81,053.

Across Oxfordshire 585,044 people have had a first dose of a Covid-19 vaccine, 543,656 have had a second jab and 435,316 have had their booster.

This is a total of 1,564,016 vaccines across the county.
