POSITIVE cases of coronavirus rise by more than 1,200 in the latest Government figures.

No new deaths were recorded in the county in the latest statistics as cases rise by 1,230.

The new cases were recorded as follows:

Oxford (269)

• Cherwell (296)

• South Oxfordshire (242)

Vale of White Horse (250)

• West Oxfordshire (173)

These latest figures mean there has now been a total of 137,734 recorded cases of Covid-19 in the county.

Across the UK, 129,587 new people had a positive test result reported today.

Between January 6 and today, 1,038,500 people had a confirmed positive test result.

This shows a 19 per cent decrease compared to the previous seven days.

There were 398 deaths in the UK within 28 days of a positive test for coronavirus reported in the latest figures.

Between January 6 and today, there was 1,724 deaths within 28 days of a positive coronavirus test.

This shows an increase of 44.3 per cent compared to the previous seven days.

The latest vaccination figures reveal that more than 52 million people have been given a first dose, while more than 47 and a half million people have been given a second dose. Almost 36 million people have been given a booster or third dose.
