POLICE have urged people not to film emergencies, after a young woman was filmed by a member of the public during a mental health crisis.
A Thames Valley Police team, with the help of a nurse from Horton Hospital, assisted a woman who was going through a mental health crisis.
Police were called to the incident in Banbury yesterday evening and alongside the nurse managed to get the woman back to the hospital to receive the treatment she needed.
During the incident a member of the public began to film which caused the woman ‘further distress’.
Officers asked the person to leave the scene which they said ‘took their focus away’ from the woman.
A spokesperson for Thames Valley Police said: “A plea to members of the public to bear in mind that not everyone wants their encounter with the police filmed and posted onto social media.”
