A retired nuclear physicist from north Oxford is said to have taken his own life.

John Wells, 70, was found dead at his home in Cavendish Road, Sunnymead, on December 3 last year.

Oxford Coroner’s Court heard he was said to have died at home after taking his own life.

A post-mortem had been conducted although a definitive cause of death was awaiting the results of toxicology tests.

Mr Wells’ death was verified by a paramedic and his identity confirmed to police by his carer on the day of his death.

A full inquest will take place on May 24. The purpose of an inquest, usually held after an unnatural death, is to establish the identity of the person and how they died.
