A cyclist is accused of hitting a stranger round the face with his bike chain in Witney.
Prosecutors claim Wayne Heep, 49, struck the woman with the makeshift weapon as she chatted with her sister at Cogges Manor Farm on August 31, 2020.
Appearing before Oxford Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday afternoon, Heep, of Blakes Avenue, Witney, pleaded not guilty to a single charge of causing actual bodily harm.
He said he wanted his trial to be heard at the magistrates’ court, rather than before a judge and jury in the crown court.
The case will be heard on March 28.
Darren Neal appeared for the Crown Prosecution Service. Heep was represented by Bethan Chichester.
