Oxford born actress Florence Pugh has made a household name for herself in recent years with a spell of successful films and awards but what has she been up to in the last year?

Pugh's career continued to grow in 2021 as she starred in a huge movie and related mini-series, with a couple of award nominations thrown in.

2022 also looks set to be a big year for the actress, with yet more hotly anticipated films coming out. You can read more about this here>>>

What did Florence Pugh get up to in 2021?

In April,  Pugh teamed up with her brother Toby Sebastian when she recorded backing vocals for Sebastian’s single, Midnight.

The BBC reported Sebastian, who played Trystane Martell in Game of Thrones, had worked on the song for two years before teaming up with Pugh when she came home for a visit.

Sebastian’s single was released on May 14.

June saw the world premiere of Marvel superhero film Black Widow which Pugh starred in.

In the film she plays Yelena Belova, the adoptive sister of Avenger Natasha Romanoff.

Like Romanoff, Pugh’s character is a highly trained operative and assassin.

Despite being delays three times due to the Covid-19 pandemic the film received strong critical praise and smashed pandemic-era box office records.

The first image from a psychological thriller Pugh will star in was released in August.

The Wonder is an adaption of Emma Donoghue’s novel which is set in Ireland in the 1800s, inspired by the phenomenon of the ‘fasting girls’.

Pugh plays an English nurse who is brought to a tiny village to observe 11-year-old Anna O’Donnell, a young girl who stops eating but remains miraculously alive and well.

The film will premiere on Netflix in 2022.

In September, the trailer was released for one of Pugh’s upcoming flicks which also stars Harry Styles.

Psychological thriller Don’t You Worry Darling will see Pugh play opposite Styles in the leading roles.

The premise of the film is: ‘An unhappy housewife in the 1950s discovers a disturbing truth, while her loving husband hides a dark secret.

The film is set to be released in September 2022.

Following on from the release of Black Widow earlier in the year, Pugh reprised her role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

In Hawkeye, a miniseries released on Disney+, Pugh returned as Yelena Belova.

Like other films and television series in the Marvel franchise, Hawkeye is set within the same complicated world and timeline meaning it continues from the events of Black Widow.

The 47th ceremony of the People's Choice Awards was held on December 7 and Pugh was nominated for two awards.

The ceremony, hosted at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California, saw the actress nominated for Best Female Movie Star and Best Action Movie Star for Black Widow.
