Thre are currently three flood alerts in force for Oxfordshire where ‘some flooding is possible’, according to the Environment Agency.

River Cherwell from Lower Heyford down to and including Oxford

In an update at around 9am this morning, the Government website said property flooding is not currently expected. River levels are rising on the Lower Cherwell and flooding of low-lying land, footpaths and roads is expected overnight, especially in the Thrupp area. The situation is being monitored.

River Ray and its tributaries from Shipton Lee to and including Islip

At 8.40am the Government website said flooding of low-lying land, footpaths and roads is expected to continue, especially in the areas from Lower Arncott to Islip.

River Thame and Chalgrove Brook

Property flooding is not currently expected, said the website. River levels continue to rise on the River Thame following recent rainfall, except in the Aylesbury area where levels are now dropping. Therefore, flooding of low-lying land, footpaths and roads is expected to continue, especially in the Thame area.

"We expect river levels to remain high for the next few days with levels rising in Stadhampton and Dorchester as water moves downstream. We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff will be in the area clearing weed/trash screens," said the Environment Agency.
