THERE are over 50 coronavirus patients being cared for in Oxford hospitals.
New data revealed that as of Tuesday Oxford University Hospitals Trust was caring for 56 people being treated for Covid-19.
The number of beds at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust occupied by people who tested positive for Covid-19 increased by 30 per cent in the last four weeks – 28 days ago, there were 43.
Across England there were 6,902 people in hospital with Covid as of December 21, with 757 of them in mechanical ventilation beds.

The number of Covid-19 patients hospitalised nationally has increased by 10 per cent in the last four weeks, while the number on mechanical ventilators has decreased by 3 per cent.
The figures also show that 74 new Covid patients were admitted to hospital in Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in the week to December 19.
This was up from 47 in the previous seven days.

The news comes as the number of Covid cases across the county have reached a record high.
