Christmas Eve is a big night for Father Christmas.

His elves have spent the year making toys for all the good girls and boys while the big man in red has kept an eye on the naughty list.

If you have been good, tonight he will get on his magical sleigh and leave presents under your Christmas tree.

Santa’s journey around the world will take him from Hong Kong to Los Angeles, Caracas to Novosibirsk.

Of course, he will also visit Oxford on his mission to deliver gifts.

If you want to follow his journey across the globe tonight you can do so via the NORAD Santa Tracker.

The North American Aerospace Defence Command (NORAD) has been tracking Santa since the 1950s.

NORAD have said historically Saint Nick visits the South Pacific first, then New Zealand and Australia. After that, he shoots up to Japan, over to Asia, across to Africa, then onto Western Europe, Canada, the United States, Mexico and Central and South America.

The organisation adds that Santa Claus will only arrive when children are asleep, so make sure you go to bed on time!

What is Santa's sleigh made of?

NORAD can confirm that Santa's sleigh is a versatile, all weather, multi-purpose, vertical short-take-off and landing vehicle.

It is capable of traveling vast distances without refueling and is deployed, as far as we know, only on December 24th (and sometimes briefly for a test flight about a month before Christmas).
