Police helped by a member of the public ushered a lost swan to safety after it became 'disorientated' in Witney town centre yesterday.
The bird was found outside the town centre shop, which is currently being used as a walk-in vaccination clinic, prompting police to suggest it might be queuing for its Covid jab.
TVP West Oxfordshire tweeted a snap of officers, explaining that they were waiting for help.
The posted: "PCSO Fiona and Dayne are currently in Witney High Street waiting for the RSPCA for a very lost swan. It was seen to fly OK but now appears to be queuing for his Covid jab outside the town council office.
"Poor thing totally disorientated."
Later they gave an update and said the bird had been taken to safety.
"We are pleased to say the swan is safe and will be returned to the water to find a new friend.
"Many thanks to Allan a member of the public, Nick and Stephen from the Covid walk in centre, for their help. Not forgetting Wendy who will take the Swan to safety.
"What a great end to a quacking story."
