AN ORGANISATION which pulls together other groups to tackle homelessness is calling for people to help ‘create a new beginning’ for the homeless in Oxfordshire this Christmas.

Oxfordshire Homeless Movement’s (OHM) latest project provides stable homes and helps people to recover from the trauma of homelessness.

So far, eight people have been supported and now have the chance of a new beginning by preparing for work.

This Christmas, donations will provide homes and support to 12 more people who have been made homeless, while supporting OHM’s charity partners.

Donations support people like Paul, who had no access to housing.

He said: “Being homeless is so degrading. Denying people access to housing can cause untold suffering and nobody should be treated like this.

“This support has given me something tangible that makes me feel like a human being again.”

OHM is also supporting the Lived Experience Advisory Forum (LEAF), which is guided by people who have personally experienced homelessness.

LEAF is funded by OHM and offers training and skills development, in addition to holding monthly meetings, consultations on service provision and ideas workshops.
