Hidden away in the Covered Market, on top of the ‘Brothers’ restaurant, there is one of the oldest coffee shops in Oxford.

Georgina’s is not easy to find, enter from the High Street, next to Whittard and Chealsea, keep on that path and eventually you will see the sign, just remember to look up.

Oxford Mail:

After finding the bright pink shop, the small wooden door takes you up stairs to the first floor of the market.

Every wall in the interior of Georgina’s is highly decorated and painted with bright colours, visitors have pined notes on the wall and left drawings inspired on the coffee shop.

Georgina’s has been in the market for over 40 years and it is the only shop on that floor of the market.

Oxford Mail:

Its small size makes it feel cosy and welcoming but becomes a bit loud a crowded during lunch time.

It was closed for one and a half years during the pandemic and reopened only four months ago, but according to manager Lounas, people in Oxford have not forgotten them and the shop is getting busier and busier.

The not only serve coffee and cakes, for lunch they offer a selection of Greek dishes and freshly made salads.

The reasonable prices along side the cosy feel of the shop and the friendly service, is what makes people come back and try more things in the coffee shop, according to Lounas.

With a bohemian feel, this hidden gem is the perfect place for someone who likes discovering new corners in the city.
