An arrest warrant was issued by a judge after a thug failed to turn up at court.

Martel Webster-Baidoe, 21, has already pleaded guilty to causing a man actual bodily harm in an attack in Oxford on May 19. He attacked a taxi driver in what a judge last month labelled a ‘disgusting and cowardly attack’.

His case was due before Oxford Crown Court on Thursday morning to be sentenced for the offence.

But when Webster-Baidoe, of Little Bury, Oxford, failed to turn up to his sentencing hearing Judge Ian Pringle QC issued a warrant for his arrest.

The warrant is not backed for bail, meaning the police must keep him in the cells until he can be produced before the magistrates’ court.
