A WOMAN has died on an Oxfordshire level crossing following an incident earlier today.
Emergency services were called to the public level crossing in Kidlington, on Sandy Lane and Yarnton Lane, this morning to reports of an incident involving a train and a pedestrian.
The British Transport Police, an ambulance crew and paramedic team leader attended the incident but paramedics pronounced the woman dead at the scene.
A spokesperson for the British Transport Police said: "British Transport Police were called to the line in Kidlington at 10.20am today (1 December) following reports of a casualty on the tracks.
“Paramedics also attended, however sadly a woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
“This incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."
South Central Ambulance told the Oxford Mail their crew left the scene at ‘just after 10 past 12’.
The incident caused cancellations and disruptions on trains between Oxford and Banbury, as well as further afield.
A spokesperson for National Rail said they closed all lines to enable emergency workers to “safely do their work”
