THREE people have been fined for not wearing a face covering. 

They appeared at Oxford Magistrates' Court over the last six months for failing to wear a face covering without a reasonable excuse. 

Their actions were contrary to regulations '3(1) and 6(1) and 6(4) of the Health Protection (Coronavirus, Wearing of Face Coverings in a Relevant Place) (England) Regulations 2020'.

These are the three people who were fined:

  • Shehryar Butt, 36, of Devon Way in Banbury appeared in court on November 12 for failing to wear a face covering in Britannia Kebab House on Warwick Road in the town. Butt was fined £1,760, ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £176 and costs of £90.
  • Sultan Basharat, 34, of London Road in Reading appeared in court on July 9 for failing to wear a face covering at the KFC on Reading’s Broad Street on February 12. Basharat was fined £1,760, made to pay a victim surcharge of £176 and costs of £90.
  • David Whitham, 34, of Dettori Mews in Sheffield was in court on August 20 for failing to wear a face covering at the BP services on Woodstock Road in Wolvercote. Whitham was fined £1,760, made to pay a victim surcharge of £120 and costs of £85.
