The world of motor sport was rocked by the death of racing icon Sir Frank Williams.

Friends, drivers, employees and colleagues of the founder of Williams Racing have left flowers and racing caps at the gates of the team's headquarters in Grove, near Wantage.

But one particular item, spotted by Oxfordshire photographer and Formula One fan Marc West at the factory, raised an eyebrow.

Among the bunches of blooms and heartfelt messages from mourners was a solitary packet of Ginger Nut biscuits.

The teatime treats are believed to have been Sir Frank's favourite biscuit. A source revealed he would enjoy a Ginger Nut with a cuppa every afternoon.

Williams driver George Russell was among those to pay tribute to his former boss.

He said: "Today, we say goodbye to the man who defined our team Sir Frank was such a genuinely wonderful human being and I’ll always remember the laughs we shared. He was more than a boss, he was a mentor and a friend to everybody who joined the Williams Racing family and so many others."
