A fallen tree which left people living on an Oxfordshire road 'stuck' is being taken apart and removed by a tree surgeon.

The large tree fell on Bedwells Heath in Boars Hill during high winds last night, taking a power line with it and blocking the road.

Thames valley Police said this morning that they recieved a number of calls about fallen trees and they urged drivers to be "cautious" on the roads.

Sharing photographs of the fallen tree, Alastair Young told the Oxford Mail earlier today that the power is still working for nearby homes but 'residents are stuck in the road until it can be cleared'.

He added the electricity company, SSE, said they are unable to come inspect the damage caused to the power line until 4:30pm.

Video footage taken by Mr Young shows the tree surgeon removing breaking the tree apart.

He said it is a 'local team effort' to free the fallen tree.

Oxfordshire County Council, Vale of White Horse District Council and SSE have been approached for comment.
