Oxfordshire firefighters were called to a gas leak from an underground petrol tank.
Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service was called to the suspected Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) leak at an underground tank near Marsh Gibbon.
Both engines from Bicester Fire Station were used during the incident on Friday afternoon but the crew was unable to isolate the leak.
Firefighters instead put a cordon in place to keep members of public safe, with a hosereel ready in case the gas ignited.
The crew remained at the scene while they waited for an engineer to assess the leak and make it safe.
While the incident was on-going the road from Marsh Gibbon to the A41 was closed in both directions.
People living nearby were told to keep their windows and doors shut to prevent the gas from entering their properties.
