Appeal judges threw out a Kidlington paedophile’s attempt to overturn his sentence.

Bertalan Oszlanszki, now 28, was jailed for 14-and-a-half years at Oxford Crown Court last year for raping a child under-13.

It followed a conviction the previous year for a string of sexual offences against an underage girl with whom he was in an illicit relationship.

Then 26, Oszlanszki told the girl of his desire to shout his love ‘from the top of a mountain – but I can’t’. Another message to the schoolgirl read: “I miss your bum.” He was given more than two and a half years’ imprisonment for the offending.

Oszlanszki took his 14-and-a-half year sentence to the Court of Appeal this week, with lawyers for the paedophile claiming it was manifestly excessive.

The panel of three appeal judges, sitting at the Royal Courts of Justice in London, dismissed the appeal.

  • A previous version of this article stated Oszlanszki had appealed his 2019 sentence. We apologise for this error.
