A man failed to turn up to his trial because he ‘forgot’, a court heard.
Cowley man Jacob Nash, 23, had been due before the justices at High Wycombe Magistrates’ Court last month facing an allegation he assaulted a police officer while he was being detained under the Mental Health Act.
He failed to attend and was found guilty in his absence.
On Saturday, Oxford magistrates were told that Nash ‘totally forgot’ about his trial. Solicitors’ letters sent to his nan’s property were not forwarded to the supported accommodation in Regent Street, Cowley, where he was now living.
Nash admitted failing to surrender to the court. He was bailed to return to Oxford Magistrates’ Court on January 4 for sentence.
