A Witney man who subjected his wife to years of controlling behaviour walked from court.
Martin Taylor, 52, had pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing to a charge of controlling and coercive behaviour towards his now ex-wife between 2016 and 2020. The offences were carried out in Witney.
At Oxford Crown Court on Friday, Recorder John Bate-Williams sentenced Taylor, who entered his guilty plea on a basis, to 16 months’ imprisonment suspended for two years.
As part of the sentence Taylor, of Ampney St Peter, near Cirencester, must complete a domestic violence rehabilitation programme and 150 hours of unpaid work. A restraining order prevents him from contacting his victim.
