THE NUMBER of businesses paying Oxford Living Wage has more than doubled in the past few months.
Businesses volunteer to pay the living wage, which is higher than the national minimum wage and reflects the cost of living, renting and food shopping.
The number of businesses accredited as part of Oxford City Council's Living Wage employer regonition scheme has gone up from 20 in September to 55 in November 2021.
How much do you earn on the living wage?
From next year (April 2022), employees who get the living wage in London will have an hourly rate of £11.05.
Outside of the capital it will be £9.90.
In Oxford, it will be £10.50 - 95 per cent of London Living Wage to recognise the high cost of living in the city.
In comparison, the national minimum wage is set at £8.91 for anybody over the age of 23.
