A man has been given a community order for stealing wine from a supermarket.

Moussa Adoum, 37, of James Street in Oxford was convicted by Oxford Magistrates Court on November 2 for the theft.

The wine, which cost £7, was stolen from an Oxford branch of Sainsburys on April 4.

His actions were contrary to section 1(1) and 7 of the Theft Act 1968.

In the UK, a person can be sentenced to seven years in prison for theft.

As per the community order Adoum must undergo treatment for alcohol dependency and they have also been ordered to take part in a rehabilitation activity for 10 days.

He was also ordered to pay £7 compensation.
