No bird is so quintessentially associated Christmas and winter as the little robin.

Throughout the winter robins are seen on Christmas cards, wrapping paper, biscuit tins and jumpers making them a well-know symbol of the festive season.

One picture perfect photograph has been snapped by a local photographer which shows a robin sitting amongst woodland.

Simon Booker, 58, an amateur wildlife photographer from South Stoke took the photograph in early November using a NIKON D850 camera.

The photograph, entitled ‘Did You Get My Best Side?’, shows the small bird perched on a piece of wood, with its head turned slightly as if it is looking directly into the camera.

The incredibly detailed snap was taken at 7am just after the clocks went back and showcases the intricate feathers of the robin, highlighting the signature red plumage on its chest.
