A WOMAN was watching TV yesterday morning when she heard unusual chirping coming from outside.

Much to her surprise, she opened the curtain and spotted two beautiful bright red parrots "enjoying the sunshine" in the trees.

Jan Matthews, 63, who lives in the flat in the Fleet Meadow area of Didcot, said the birds appeared to be a couple.

Mrs Matthews and neighbour went to investigate and “everyone was walking past taking photographs” of the birds.

Mrs Matthews told the Oxford Mail she has never seen them before and thought they looked like parrots due to their “beautiful red plumes”.

She estimated the birds were about 10 inches long and 'definitely smaller than a pigeon'.

Mrs Matthews added the bird’s “colours stood out in the trees as they were bright red”.

Footage Mrs Matthews shared with this paper shows the birds hopping about in the trees while singing. The feathers on their front and stomachs appear to be red in colour while their wings are blue.

The Oxford Mail contacted the RSPCA and RSPB but neither charity had received reports of missing parrots in Oxfordshire.
