Fireworks displays took place across the county over the weekend with thousands of people attending the South Park display after it was cancelled last year.

People also enjoyed bonfires, sparklers and fireworks in their back gardens.

However, many pets are terrified of the loud booms of fireworks exploding and many people also find them too noisy at night.

We asked our readers on the Oxford Mail Facebook page if they thought fireworks should be banned after a certain time and there was mix of responses.

Some Oxford Mail readers do not see a problem with fireworks and others want to see silent fireworks used in the future.

Some people really do not like fireworks and want to see them banned, while others highlighted that they pollute the environment.

This is what you had to say about fireworks:

Angela Kelly: "Should be banned altogether.

"They can’t be doing the environment any good, why are they still allowed."

Cally Hill: "Just banned for public sale and have organised events only.

"I absolutely hate people doing back garden fireworks."

Steve Wood: "Maybe a compromise would be better where fireworks are all quiet, but you can still see the beautiful colours and patterns they produce, just a thought."

NiKita Beaupre: "My new puppy is absolutely fine with them and is not bothered one bit buy them."

Nate Chalmers: "Yes ban them full stop there is no need them it is all a pointless waste of time."

John Surrage: "For me there are plenty of displays, no need for random ones, think of the animals."
